The benefits of web standards
Web standards are a set of guidelines for web developers and web browser makers, aimed at making web pages work no matter what you are looking at them with. Adhering to these standards means that people who are partially sighted or blind, or who cannot use a mouse, can still access and use your web site.
Separating the content of your web site (the words and images) from the structure (how it looks) is one of the main goals of standards based design. If done properly, it means that changes to the way the site looks can be made quickly and easily, without affecting the content (and vice versa).
Another benefit is that the amount of HTML code needed to build a standards compliant site is usually a lot less than a comparable site built using traditional methods, resulting in faster loading pages and lower bandwidth bills from your web host.
I am fully committed to building web sites that are future-proof, lightweight, and accessible to as many users as possible. For more information about web standards and how they can benefit your business, please get in touch.
